This is the start of an inspiration patch, where I hope that fellow scrappers and creators will come and find some inspiration, or even leave some inspiration for me.

Scrap Africa - Sketch #3 - Just Me

Hi Everyone

I am so enjoying my Saturday.  I gave a Scrap class this morning and then just had to come home and finish off a layout that I was doing for the Scrap Africa Challenge.

It is so apparent that winter is on it's way and so I don't feel too bad about being holed up in my craft room and doing some scrapping! There is a distinct chill in the air today!

Okay, so firstly the sketch.

I wanted to use a vellum patterned paper that I have had for absolute ages and have not used, because I wasn't sure how I was going to use it, and so jumped in with both feet and this is the result.

This layout is called "Just Me" and is really about sometimes not always feeling so confident, but then picking myself up and saying to myself that "I am enough" and that "Just me" is exactly who I should be.
There is a hidden journalling tag. just behind my photo.

Here are some close ups.

Thanks for stopping by today.
Have a great day!

Photo's

Hi Everyone

I have been busy this week scrapping and creating, but am not able to share these projects with you right away.  But I promise to share them with you very soon.

I wanted to ask you all about photo's and whether any of you have gone on a photographic course? I am really starting to get more knowledgeable about my camera and also what makes for a good shot.

I remembered an article from the Creative Reflections magazine and scanned it and will paste it here.  It really helped me and continues to do so.

So here is the article.  I hope it is big enough for you to read.

Here's two pics that I am particularly proud of and whether it was pure fluke or actual photographic genius..well that is a mystery too! LOL

Let me know what you think of the article and maybe give it a try.
Have a great weekend.

Once Upon a Sketch - March 15 Challenge

Hi Everyone

Today has been a busy day doing all sorts of errands and also little chores, but also in between all that, I did a little bit of scrapping.  I mean, what would a day in my life be without scrapping?!

Anyways, I did a layout for the Once Upon a Sketch Challenge and really did enjoy it immensely. The theme was "missing something or someone" and then also the sketch to go with it.
Here is the sketch.

Here is my version of it.

I used the Pink Paislee London Market collection and I absolutely adore this collection! My brother lives in London and so was very apt for me to use this collection for this layout.  I did some splash/blob painting on the background cardstock in silver, which actually came out quite nicely and sort of pulls the layout together.  I also did the journalling around my photo, which I thought was a nice touch too.

Here are some close-ups, where you can also see the journalling better.

I love the fact that scrapping gives one the opportunity to give thought to your feelings and emotions when creating a project, and this one really did. It was very good for my soul!! Maybe do a little something for the soul today??

Have a great evening!

Prima Sketch Challenge

Hi Everyone

It feels like Friday to me as we have a Public Holiday here tomorrow and then I am off until Monday!
Yay!  I am so excited to just have some chill time and also do some creating and scrapping.

I want to share my Prima Sketch Challenge with you today and so without further ado, here is the sketch.

This is my take.

I used the following materials:
Prima Romantique papers
Prima Botanicals Papers
Prima Sparkling Spring stickers
Prima Flowers
Upikit Leaves and Enmarc Dress Form
7 Gypsies tag

Here are some close-ups, which include my hidden journalling tag.

My niece is really growing up so quickly, but is such a lovely young lady! I love these photo's of her and thought this layout would go well with these photo's.

Thanks for popping by on my blog today.
Enjoy your evening.

Prima Challenge

Hi Everyone

I am so looking forward to sharing this post with you today! I have a little bit of a step by step post to show you how I created the background for this layout.

Prima's challenge was this colour palette below.

So I started off with a white card stock background and then used the Prima wall mask and some white pearlescent craft paint to create my wall. I painted it quite thickly, so that there was a raised edge and then let it dry overnight.

Then I spritzed my wall and the background with some Dazzles spray ink - waterlilly blush. I think this makes for such a great background for the rest of the layout.

Anyways, then I added my photo and a few bits and bobs, and here is the end result, with quite a few close-ups.

I used Prima Flowers and also resist canvas pieces, with Prima Sweet Fairy Collection - Pink Parfait and Fairy Notes papers and stickers. The lettering is Basic Grey and the peeking doily is also Prima.

This is quite a special page for me as my Mom turned 75 and this was taken at her birthday tea. I love that she was wearing purple as this absolutely went with my colouring! Thanks Mom!

Here are those close-ups.

My Little Shoe Box

Hi Everyone

TGIF! Yay...I am so glad it is Friday and I can finally relax and spend some quantity time creating and playing.
I have done lots of scrapping this week, but due to the rainy and overcast weather I have not been able to take great pictures.  So I really hope tomorrow that I can take some nice pictures.

In the meantime I have some My Little Shoe Box projects that I want to share with yo, that I did about 2 weeks ago.  One is a layout, one a card and then an altered little box.  I love My Little Shoe Box products! They are really cute and lovely and I love creating with them.

Below are the 3 projects. The layout is a page of Joe's first day of Nursery school. It is a very special page for me as it was a big turning point in our lives and meant Joe was growing up.  I have some hidden journalling on the "Confidential" tag and this is where I expressed those thoughts.

Secondly is a Thank You card. The My Little Shoe Box die-cute papers are just perfect for this.

And lastly here is my little Sweethearts Box. One can always put a little something in and give it to the one you love.  I love these little kinds of altered boxes as you can always use them as gifts or gift packaging.

I hope you found some inspiration here today.
Thanks for stopping by and hope you have a scrappy weekend!

Discover New Things

Hi Everyone

This is my second post and I have really enjoyed scrapping this weekend and just creating and relaxing.
This post is about a layout that I did for 3 challenges, one being My Minds Eye Blog Challenge 33 and then Bird is the Word Challenge and Unique Crafters Challenge Blog.

The sketch I used was for My Minds Eye and the theme was Bird is the Word - Discover.
This layout is of Joe at about 10months old and him discovering daisies in our backyard, for the first time.  I just loves these photo's and knew they would go well with the theme.

So here is the layout sketch:

MME2012_sketch_layout03_thumb[1]

And here is my offering:

I love this My Minds eye paper and it really fitted with the theme and photo's. It's Miss Caroline Fiddlesticks "Home" and 12 days of Christmas "Joy" papers and Breeze "Everywhere" Mirrors paper...
The cardstock was Tim Holtz Core Dinations and Bazzill cream.
The alpha stickers were Prima and the chipboard is Basic Grey, with a Creative Imaginations leaf.
I stamped the butterflies and then fussy cut them out.
Here are a few close ups.

This is such a precious layout for me and my wish is that Joe will always keep on discovering!

Hope you have an awesome evening.
Thanks for visiting.

Little Artist

Hi Everyone

I have two posts today and the first one is for the Let's Scrap Sketch challenge. Here is the sketch to play with.

I decided to only use half the layout and here is my version.

I used Bo Bunny "On the Go" Papers and stickers and also Kelly Panacci stickers.
I also did some splash painting on the background to fit with the painting/art theme.

Thanks for stopping by.

Me, Myself and I - Once Upon a Sketch Challenge

Hi Everyone

I hope that you have had a good week and are looking forward to the weekend! I certainly am and hope there is a little bit of rest and relaxation on the schedule! (I can always dream!)

I did a layout for the Once Upon a Sketch Challenge and loved the idea of doing a page about myself as I do not often do this. The journalling was easy but the actual page I struggled with. I had such a brilliant idea in my mind and somehow just wasn't able to translate it onto the page. It is okay I think, but had a different idea in my head.

The photo is matted book style and I did sort of want to tell a story, after actually opening the cover.

So here is the sketch.

And here is my layout.

Once opening the book, here is the inside.

Here is a close-up of the journalling.

And lastly one or 2 more close-ups.

I hope you have a great Friday and weekend.
Thanks for stopping by.
